Caged No More (2016)
Life in Louisiana has always been easy.
Good people, great food, and a spirit of liveliness like no other in the French Quarter. But it's the beautiful land outside the city that brings me solace and allows me to breath deep. The peaceful waters, smells of honeysuckle and magnolia, and the great oaks that beckon you sit and reflect for a while. The melting pot of cultures makes it one of the most interesting places on earth. There's a warmth and friendliness that I've not experienced anywhere else. It was a joy to grow up here. Which I'm sure is why our family has lived here for generations. The spicy food is a true reflection of the people that call it home. A resilient breed that bear one storm after the other. Always rising up, leaving defeat in their dust. But since I came back from serving in Iraq, I've seen the tide turning. A darkness lurks here that I don't remember existing before. Maybe it's everywhere in the U.S., not just here. I don't know when this door opened or how, but our family was about to shaken to its core through something so unimaginable. And right at the center of it, was my uncle Jack. And a God-fearing woman of faith named Miss Agata Prejean, who was godmother to his girls. Somehow she would be the one called to have the courage to look the horrific terror in the eye and believe that God could bring an end to it. Macy. This better not be like the last time. You good for nothing... Why do you do this to me, huh? Why do you do this to me? I already called the 9-1-1. The police are right behind me. If I was you, Jack, I'd just walk away. Now! Macy girl? You here? M... Macy! Oh. Baby, it's Aggie. I'm here. Can you hear me? Baby, can you talk? Oh, my God. Tell me what you took. - Mama Aggie? - Mm-hmm. - They're gone. - Who? Jack sold 'em. Right now, he's selling them. They're gone. Macy girl, you listen to me now. You've got to tell me what you took. I don't know. It... it doesn't matter anymore. Nothin' matters anymore. Don't you... you stay with me. Macy, you wake up. Now you... Oh, Lord. You tell me, I promise you... I promise you, you wake up, and I'll get back whatever Jack stole. But nothin' is worth losing your life over, you hear me? Macy girl, you hear me? Oh, God, how could he do it? - What? - It's... it's all on his laptop. Please promise me you'll get them back. - Please. - I promise, child. I promise. I... I'll even call the police right now. No, they won't... they won't believe you. You... you gotta do it. Yes. I'll do it. Now you just tell me what you took. - Macy? - Save my girls, Mama. Macy girl, stay with me. Oh, Macy baby, don't leave me like this. Open your eyes. Macy! Macy! Macy girl! Oh, God. No! Oh! Don't leave me. Don't leave me, Macy. Not like this. I need you, child. Your girls, they need you. Oh, Macy. Macy, no! No! No! What's this old lady doing here? What're you talking about? You think this nice lady had something to do with - that woman's death? - Look. I'm just saying it's weird is all. Just let me handle it. Um, I'm detective Mark Landon. Would it be okay if I just ask you a few questions? - What is your full name? - Agata Prejean. But everybody calls me Aggie. All right, Miss Aggie. Do you live here? - No, I live in Lafayette. - Lafayette. Did you drive all the way here by yourself. - Yes, sir. - I see. Can you give me the name of the victim? Macy DuLonde. Her maiden name was Bargass. She was like my child to me. I'm so sorry, Miss Aggie. Uh, what was your relationship to her? I worked for her parents from, oh, Lord, let's... 1966 to, uh... when they both died in 1995. How they'd die? Horrible car accident. Heart-wrenching for all of us. Macy just was never the same. Hey, Mark. Look what I found. I didn't know these people were the DuLondes. Miss Aggie, do you know who this man is? That's Jack, Macy's husband. I wish we'd never laid eyes on him. Now this is Richard DuLonde, one of the wealthiest men in New Orleans. No, that's Jack. Macy's husband. Do you know where he is now? In London with Macy's precious girls, Skye and Elle. I'm so grateful that they didn't have to see this. Poor Macy. She's taking them drugs 'cause of her awful marriage. Are you certain this isn't Richard DuLonde? I mean, same eyes, same face. - He has the same last name. - That's Jack. I don't mean to be rude ma'am, but this is no coincidence here. Something is up, because the man that is in this photo is a dead-ringer for Richard DuLonde. Now did he have a brother or maybe somebody... What part of "that's Jack" don't y'all understand? Jack couldn't be related to nobody like that. He ain't got a speck of righteous blood in him. He's vial, nasty, just mean, awful... Miss Aggie... - Let's calm down. - Miss Aggie. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Auntie Aggie? I got your text. I'm so sorry to hear about Macy. I know she was like a daughter to you. No, Leona. She had her whole life ahead of her. You know what? Come on, sit down. Let me fix you something to eat. I can't eat. I got to find those letters. What letters? Let me help you. No, you don't even know what you looking for. Okay, well then just tell me what happened last night. Oh, Lord have mercy. Before Macy... she made me promise to save the girls from Jack, but I don't know what that means. Well, where are they? Well, Jack took Elle to London to visit Skye at her school. Wait a minute. Macy let Jack take Elle out of the country? Yes, and that's how I know something ain't right. I got to find those letters. Okay, what letters? What are you talk... - From where? Who? Macy? - No, no, no. Emails that Skye sent me from her school, and I... I... I... I printed 'em out before I deleted 'em. Now she's been sending me these emails but I don't know the name of her new school. I don't know where she is in London, How am I gone get to 'em if I don't know where they are? - Okay, okay. Let me look over... - I don't know where they are. Let me look over here, okay? Just... just tell me what else Macy said. Just... just that Jack had stole something that he was gone sell 'em and... and to save the girl. News of a Portland woman being arrested for trying to sell her own young daughter into the human sex slave business. I'm joined now by Kathie Lee Gifford, who has worked alongside a group called the International Justice Mission as a human rights advocate. And Kathie, this is a horrific thing - to happen to any human being. - It's just hard, I think, for Americans, in general, to believe that this is going on in our country, in our states, in our neighborhoods, maybe even next door. And it's happening to our children. Some of them ten, 12 years old. I mean, this young girl that you were just talking about, her own mother denying her her human rights, her dignity. Auntie, - what if... - No! - Macy would never do such a thing. - No, no, no. I'm not saying that Macy's capable of doing it, but, Jack. Is there anything else that Macy said to you? Well, she told me to take Jack's laptop. She said everything I need to know would be on there, but it's dead, and I can't get my charger to make it work. - Well, did you tell the police that? - No, I didn't tell no police, because Macy said they wouldn't believe me and I promised her that I was gone do this myself. Uh-uh, Auntie. We got to get somebody to help us. 'Cause what if Jack is capable of doing something like this? Oh, Lord, not... God. You gotta help your Aggie. Gotta tell me what to do next. Uncle Jack was indeed up to no good, and Elle was playing right into his trap. So if this happens, what time do we meet? - When are we going? - Huh? Yeah. - Okay. - Can we go to the beach, at least? Could you hold on? Ah, no. See, I'm... I'm trying to do business here. - But that's all you've been doing. - Look how many times do I have to tell you, Greece is for work. If I can get this deal done, then... then we can go see Skye, okay? I'm back. Yeah. Uh-huh. You staying in motel? I'm sorry, I don't speak Greek. Oh, of course. Are you American? Ah, I was saying you are very beautiful girl. Hmm. Certainly you are model in America. - No, not even close. - Here in Greece, you would be celebrated. And how lucky to have met you. Huh? A few days from now we have big modeling contest. - You should try. - Really? My Dad, he's very busy with, you know, like, business calls and... Needn't take no time at all. Just a couple of hours. You will get a lot of money and big modeling contract. - A lot of money? - Yeah, yeah. Hold on. Excuse me. Here. You have your father talk to my friend. His name is Kain. He is in charge of modeling contest. He will take you back to meet judges beforehand, huh? Hundred percent you'll win. Yeah, I'd say okay. It looked like it worked. Yeah, okay. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Definitely. We'll talk tomorrow. Bye. Dad, the coolest thing just happened to me. - Yeah, what's that? - So this man came up to me... Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What man? Well, he left, but he invited me to be in this beauty pageant coming up. Yeah, yeah. That's probably a scam. No, he said I was sure to win. Oh, he said that, did he? Yeah, and I would win a lot of money which could help us to see Skye sooner. Can I do it, please? I consider them... where... where... where is this pageant? I... I'm not sure, but he gave me this man's card and he'd give you all the information that you need, and it wouldn't take up much of your time. - Sure. I'll talk to him. - Really? - Sure. - Thank you so much. - Can I call Mom and tell her? - No, no, now, see, I... I told you it's... uh... It's too expensive to call home. You, uh... you win this pageant, then you can call her. - Okay? - Deal. - Thank you so much, Daddy. - Yeah. You're welcome, Sweetheart. I just can't wrap my brain around it. What kind of person would sell their own child? I hate to say it, but I wouldn't put it past Jack to do something like this. Oh, I know you're right. You're right. And it's too much. It's just too much. But if he's doing this, what am I gone do about it? That's why I think we need to go to the police. Wait, a minute. Last night one of those officers - said the strangest thing. - What? Have you heard of a Mr. Richard Dulonde? Richard DuLonde. No, I don't think so. Well, type it in. - Oh, my Lord. - Oh. Jack has got a twin brother? We're under attack! Jack, go back! Get your heads down! Everyone get down now. Now! Now! Ugh! Hey, Jack. Hey, Jack. Dulonde. Dude, it's barely 7:00 a.m. These early morning calls, they got to stop. I know. You need it more than I do. It's comments like that, see that makes me glad you're going back out. - When are you leaving? - Ten days. Did you parents freak out when you told them you were going back in? Ah, well, I haven't told them yet. When you planning on breaking it to them? After the party. - You in? - Yeah. Pass up on a DuLonde shindig, no way. Even if it means my only ticket in is by being on security. I need you there by 4:00. Is that too early? I always look forward to being at home, but it's been hard the last few years, since we lost my little sister. I was serving in Iraq when Madison passed away from cancer. Now we're all just trying to get on with life the best we know how. - Hey, son. - Hi, Pops. You're early, aren't you? I'm always early. Hmm. Yeah, it's hard to believe it's been three years. Yup. How's mom? You know, actually, she's um... - she's pretty good. - Yeah? Can't keep Lottie DuLonde down... In this whole... Probably always be a hard day, but I tell you, you know, throwing this benefit every year to fill Madison's fund, keeps her mind busy. - Mine, too. - Yeah. - You guys ready? - Are you kidding me? It's your mom's job to make sure that I'm always ready. Yeah, I know. She does that to me, too. How about you? Your team? You guys ready? Of course. I really appreciate this one. It's my pleasure. Got to put all this training to use somehow, right? Yeah. Did you ever figure out where those threats were coming from? Uh, not yet. I mean, emails are coming from a fake account billed to the public library here in New Orleans. They could be coming from anyone. You know I haven't, uh, told your mom about this, so don't mention it to her, okay? Got it. You sure she's up for hosting this thing with you tonight? - Yeah, I think she... - Of course, I am. Well, there she is. - Hi, baby. - How are you? Mmm, good. You see I brought those? Madison's favorite. She would have loved them. So did you show him his attire for the night? Oh, no, no. I thought I'd leave that honor to you. We're just wearing black, right? Just black, right? We're supposed to wear black? Yeah. - Oh, yeah. - Mm. Oh, why? Why are we wearing tuxes? 'Cause you'll look nice... and blend in. Ooh. This old thing sure brings back memories. For sure. Jesus Loves me Huh? Yes, Jesus loves me - Help me out. Come on. - What? Yes, Jesus loves me For the Bible tells me Oh, no, no! Macy, no, no. Auntie Aggie? Aggie. - Are you all right? - I'm fine. I'm Fine. You know, you don't have to do this. You gonna get arrested, and then where you gonna be? Did you get the shoes? Good. Thank you. What if you get caught? What if you have a problem up in that house? What if you can't get out? Girl, I ain't got time for no what ifs. Now I made a promise to Macy. And the DuLondes are my only chance of keeping it. Leona, think on it. What are the chances of these people giving this big, fancy benefit ball tonight? What are the chances of Mr. Richard being Jack's twin brother? What kind of coincidence is that? Well, I don't believe it is. I think it's God making a way. You honestly think you're gonna walk up into that kitchen and nobody's going to know that you don't belong there? Hmm-mm-mm. I already called that country club and I told that woman I was part of the new staff. She told me what time to be there. She told me what to wear. I'm just gonna go on in there. Pretend I'm one of them folks. Mm-hmm. All right. Suppose that works out. Then What? You gonna be working. You think you just gonna walk up to either Richard or Lottie DuLonde and start talking to them? What you gonna say? Yeah, I believe that the Lord is gonna put the right words right up in my mouth. Okay, and suppose they decide not to help you. What if instead they decide to have you arrested? Well, you just gonna come bail me out, and we figure out what we gonna do next. You know you crazy. No, hon, I'm Cajun. - Dad. - What? I'm not so sure about this anymore. What? Why? All the judges are men. It seems weird. Well, look. This... this was your idea. You know, you... you can't back out now. It's... Wait here. - Yeah. - Most of the buyers aren't interested. Okay, could you, uh... You think I'll make more than last time? Oh, she's younger, for sure. - That bring lot more. - Okay. Now the one to the side is the deal. He's got more money than all buyers combined. You get his interest, you got it made. - All right? - Okay, so, okay. Sweetheart, you see that man there? He's the most important judge of the pageant. You get him to like you, no matter what, okay? - Okay. - No matter what. Come on. I'll introduce you. Huh? I've never seen him touch a girl's hair like that. That's a very, very good sign. Well, gentlemen, we look ridiculous. This was not the costume I was expecting. Why didn't you tell us about this? I just found out about it myself, but I appreciate you guys being good sports. - It means a lot to my mom. - And you don't look too bad, Matt. Maybe you'll actually now be able to pick up a chick. Ooh, there's gonna be some single ladies here? There's gonna be single ladies here, but not that we'll be paying attention to, right? Gotta be on point. All work and no play makes Wil a dull boy. I may be dull, but we are here to work, least until my parents leave, then you guys can play all you want. Maybe you can pick up those chicks. To business. Tonight's security is really cut and dry. These pins I'm about to give you guys are the key. Last week we Fed-Ex'd one to every guest and every employee that's gonna be here, letting them know they had to have them on at all times. No pin no entrance. No pin, no stay. Your only job tonight is make sure everybody's wearing one at all times and if they're not, you bring them straight to me. You got it? - Got it. - Real simple. The three of you with me. Matt you take those four. - We know what we're doing? - We do. Let's do this. Okay, Aggie, you can do this. Looks like it's gonna be a fine ball, don't you think? Yes, they always are. Have I seen you here before? No, uh, this is my first time, actually, and I want to make a great impression. Then don't worry about a thing. I can show you where to go. - I'm Julie. - Oh, thank you so much. I'm Aggie. They've been really picky about who got to work this gig. I'm surprised they brought in someone new. Oh, well, I'm sure the only reason I got in was because of, um, my good friend, Bessie. Who's Bessie? Oh, well, uh, Bessie is, um, Miss Lottie DuLonde's personal housekeeper. And Miss Lottie told her that she's worried about having enough servants for this event, so I told her I'd be happy to help out and, um, um, it's been... things have been real tight lately, you know? So, I am so grateful for this extra work. - How lucky. - Uh-huh. I'm sure tonight's gonna be an amazing party. And don't forget your gold pin. - What? - Your gold pin. Didn't you get one? Oh, Bessie, she told me Miss Lottie has one for me. Oh, okay. I'm gonna go ahead and start going over the agenda - with the staff. - Okay. Just to make sure the guys are checking for pins that we talked about. Why don't you go and get everybody's attention. Thanks, man. Hello, everyone. If I could have your attention just for a moment. This is Wil. He's gonna be giving us our instructions for tonight. So let's listen up. Hi, Guys. Thank you so much for being here. Uh, here's the deal. It's real, real simple. I just want to go over the schedule for this evening. All right, at 6:00 o'clock we're gonna start serving hors d'oeuvres and pre-dinner drinks. 6:30 we'll have a greet. 7:30 we'll start with dinner. And then at 9:30, we'll move all the festivities back in the mansion. Okay? Real simple, but if you have any questions you certainly can speak with Tyler, or Matt, or myself. We'll be hanging out for a few minutes, okay? Let's have a great evening. Thanks for being here. Excuse me, ma'am. - Hi. - Hi. I don't think we've met before. I'm Wil. What's your name? Uh, Agata Prejean. I... as you know I forgot my pin and I was just gonna go downstairs and get it. I could come right back up here and show it to you, so please don't send me home. I'm... I'm not gonna send you home, okay? You're not in trouble. I just knew that I hadn't met you before. - Oh. - Okay. What was your name again? - Agata Prejean. - It's beautiful. - Thank you. - Will you do me a favor? Will you go get your pin, bring it back up here. I'm gonna hang out here for a few minutes. - Okay? - Oh, okay. - And then we'll speak again. - All right. But I'm not gonna send you home, okay? - Thank you, sir. - Thank you. I'll see you in just a few minutes. - All right. - All right. That's it. That's it. How long are we gonna wait for her to come back? Just a few more minutes. You really think this lady's a threat? No. - Excuse me, Wil. - Hi. - I don't expect you to remember me. - Of course. - You're Julie McDonald, right? - Yes, wow. Good to see you. What can I do for you? I saw you talking to that older lady, Aggie. Yeah, I think that was Agata Prejean, right? - Do you know her? - We just met. But she's so sweet, and real nervous about working here. It sounded like she really needs this job, so I was hoping you'd take it easy on her. Yeah, I... I know I freaked her out. I didn't mean to. I just never met her before tonight. Oh, well, that's probably because your mom hired her at the last minute. - Really? - Yeah. Aggie says she's good friends with your mom's housekeeper, Bessie. That's how she found out about the job. Got it. Okay, well, thank you so much for the information. - Will you do me a favor? - Sure. When you see her, just let her know that I wasn't trying to freak her out. Everything's fine. But could you send her to me? - Would that be all right? - Sure will. - Thank you so much. Good to see you. - Thank again. Hey, Matt. What's this? Call this number as many times as it takes till you speak to this guy personally. He's an old family friend of my dad's. And I need you to ask him to pull any information he can on a Agata Prejean. - Agata Prejean. - All right? - Roger that. - Thank you. Why are you doing that? Because you know my mom never staffs these events, and we've never had a housekeeper named Bessie. So we gotta find Agata Prejean. Auntie Aggie, thank God. Okay, what's going on? Did you get in okay? - And... and, where are you now? - Never mind that. Leona, now listen, if I don't call you by tomorrow morning go and get the laptop out of my car. What do you mean if you don't call me by tomorrow morn... You know what, what is going on? And what kind of mess did you get yourself into? Listen, do you want me to come over there and get you? 'Cause I will come over there right now. You better believe I will snatch you up in a heartbeat. Leona, will you just go do what I tell you? Get the laptop from the car. All right. I'll do whatever it takes. Okay. So now why are we having everybody wear these? Well, it's just an idea Wil and I came up with. I thought it'd make the night a little more festive. Well, you're not getting one of these on my dress. Uh-huh, well, I figured as much - 'cause I knew you... - Shh. Oh... you look so handsome. Thanks Mom, but I feel ridiculous. Ah, who cares. You look marvelous. I'll be back to get you guys at 6:00, all right? - You got it? - Just now. - What's you got on there? - Who is this guy, anyway? How'd he get a profile on that woman so quickly? He's in the secret service. Of course he is. Is there anyone that your dad does not know? - Will you look at that? - What? It turns out this nice old lady is not a clean as we thought. She's connected with my dad's brother, Jack. I need you to find Lennon and and Langston and meet me at the front entrance. If she's still inside I want to find her. We found her car. Two guys at added in case she tries to leave. All right, good. Make sure they call me if they see her, all right? The two of you split up and surround the perimeter. Got it? - All right. - Go. She's still here somewhere. - Let's go. - All right. Oh, God. Come on, Aggie, you can do this. Just go. Did anyone scour the east grounds yet? - I'll do it right now. - All right. Let me check the kitchen. Matt! Oh... Oh! Miss Lottie! I need your help, Miss Lottie, please. You've gotta help me save my girls. You're the only one that can save them. I need your help. My girls need your help. Please, you've got to save them. I got this, Mom. I got this. No, wait a minute. I can't do it by myself. - Please, Miss Lottie. - That's enough. Wil, clearly this woman needs some kind of help. - I need your help. - I got it, Mom. That's enough. - I don't mean to cause no trouble. - Listen to me. I'm not here to cause no trouble. I came here to... - That's enough. - Let go of me. Would you mind escorting Miss Prejean out, please. I'll be there in a moment. Wil, please. Matt, don't you take another step. Wil, what's going on? This lady's connected to Jack. - What? - What? She may be the one that's sending the emails. What emails? Someone's been sending some nasty messages. We think they're linked to Jack and he's got himself into some sort of mess. Is that why we have so much security here tonight? Yes, honey, and just let Wil do his job, okay? All right... Well, look, that woman is obviously not a threat. I am sure of it. So why don't you go down with Matt, you start the party without me and, Wil, you can come with me while I talk to her. I gotta see what's going on. Keep her safe, all right? Matt, I got it. Thank you. Now, ma'am, tell me your name. - Agata Prejean. - Mm-hmm. But everybody calls me Aggie. Aggie, come with me. Tell me how we can help you. Through her own determination, Aggie had found us, and together, we would unravel the truth. Her mind at peace now, drifted back to happier times. Oh, nobody can draw a bird in flight like you can, Skye, girl. Skye? That's a good one. I just wish I could have a real one, - like as a pet. - That would be so cool to have a real pet bird. Can we please get one? No, no, no. That is not good at all. - Why not? - Because... God made beautiful birds to soar the open skies, not to be trapped in a cage. But I would take care of it and love it so much. No amount of love is gonna make a caged bird happy. - Mama Aggie! - No! - Hello? - Hey, you okay? Oh, Leona, I'm sorry. I'm good. Everything is good. - What time is it? - Uh, it's around 7:45. Oh, my goodness. I have got to meet the DuLonde's in 15 minutes. Oh, let me tell you this one thing before I get off. Ooh, that Miss Lottie. She's like an angel sent from heaven. Yes, she is. I gave her the laptop from the car, and she gone take care of everything. Girl, I can't believe this. Okay, you know what, go to your meeting, but then call me when you can. Okay, talk to you later. Oh, thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Mark. Ya'll she's gonna be here any minute. Please let's all just be very gentle with her. This is gonna be difficult for her to take in. Oh. Miss Aggie. Good morning. How'd you sleep? Oh, just fine, thank you. Oh, this outfit looks so pretty on you. Well, thank you so much for the clothes, but you really shouldn't have gone through the trouble. Oh, we're just glad that you came to us. I'd like to introduce you to Richard. This is my husband. It's a pleasure. I... I don't know how I can possibly make up for the pain my brother's caused you and your family. Well, ain't nothin' that you've done. - Okay. - Uh, Miss Aggie, I'd like to introduce you to Alicia Stevens. Hi. I've invited her here today 'cause she's an expert - on what we're gonna be talking about. - Expert, okay. And you remember my son, Wil. Oh, you're not gonna arrest me like I'm a criminal, - are you? - No, Ma'am. I'm so sorry about that, Miss Aggie. Sure, I understand. Uh, please, sit down. Would you like some tea? - No. - Okay. Miss Aggie, since we spoke last night, we've learned a great deal. Uh, Wil's friend, Tyler, has been up all night. He's a computer expert, and he's been pulling as much information as possible off of Jack's laptop. Well, did you find Jack and Elle? Are they with Skye? Um... Honey, Macy was right. Uh, Jack does have Elle with him. He's gonna try to sell her. Jack's gotten involved with a drug cartel, Miss Aggie. It seems he owes them a lot of money. He's trying to save his own life, and it looks like Elle is his ticket out. Several days ago Jack went to Greece. No, no. Jack went to London. He took Elle to see Skye at a new school in London. He went to London. I'm sorry, Miss Aggie, but we saw the flight confirmations. Both he and Elle are definitely in Greece. Oh. We don't know exactly where they're staying, but we do know that he's going to try and sell her at an underground auction on Friday. - We do have that address. - Auction. There's still time. We can get in and we can get her back. Miss Aggie, listen, I know how scary this must be for you. See I work for an organization here in Louisiana called Trafficking Hope. And unfortunately, we see this kind of thing all the time. Alicia's organization is also working with a group in Greece, and they specialize in rescuing women out of trafficking. And they promised to help us. We're not alone in this, Miss Aggie. Hey, Wil. You're gonna want to take a look at this. - Dad. - Yeah. Come see this. - What made you look for this? - I was going through Jack's emails and something just wasn't lining up about Skye being at that school. So I kept digging. - There it was. - There what was? Miss Aggie, why don't you sit down. No. No, thank you. Okay. I'm not sure how to tell you this. But Skye is... not at an art school in London. Several months ago Jack took her to Greece - and sold her to a brothel. - No. I know that's not true because my Skye girl, she's been sending me emails, telling me how much she loved that school. You've been getting emails, but they've been from Jack. This is a fake account. Good Lord. That poor girl's been in a brothel all this time? - It looks like it. - No. I'm sorry. I'm... Aggie's heart broke the moment she heard those words spoken. How could this be happening? Her mind took her back to the sweet innocent Skye that she had raised all those years ago. Oh, Skye, girl. Ah, see. That's the pet bird you wanted for your birthday. - It's beautiful. - Yeah. I had it made especially for you. You know you were born to soar the skies, just like that bird. Don't you ever let anybody put you in a cage. You hear me? - Mama? - Uh-Huh? - I love it. - You do? I'll wear it forever. You promise? Give me hugs. Look at you. Lately I don't Recognize you The fire in your eyes Is fading into ambers So while you're out there In the darkness I'm praying you'll remember Alicia, can we speak with your people in an hour? Absolutely. Tyler, do you have your passport? All right. We're gonna leave later this afternoon. Hey Aeton, this is Wil DuLonde. I need you to give me a call back as soon as you get this message. All right? I need your help. Thanks. What do you think you're doing? Dad. You're not gonna do this single-handedly. Dad, we don't have time to wait around on the government. All right, even with your pals at the DOS. I'll be in and out before they can even formulate a plan. Wil, just let me make the phone calls I know to make. Dad, I've been face-to-face with some of the most dangerous men in the world. All right, I'm here. I'm fine. I can handle some small town brothel owners. Trafficking isn't a two-bit organization, especially in Greece. Guys, I'm aware of the risk. Look at that picture. That's Skye. She looks just like Madison. Yes, she does. And what if it was Madison? Would you not move heaven and earth to get her? Of course. I couldn't be here for Madison, Dad. Let me get these girls. Please? I know. Okay. Miss Aggie. We'll need you to go with us. - What? I'm going to Greece? - Yes, ma'am. I know it's more dangerous for you because you know Jack, but we'll keep you sequestered until we have the girls. And once we have them, and you're there, - they'll know they're safe. - Yes, they will. - Should your father and I go? - Oh, no, no. - Absolutely not. - Dad's right. The less amount of people that know Jack, the better. - But you could be recognized. - I'll be fine, Mom. And we'll keep you guys updated every step of the way. Miss Aggie, are you okay? Oh, yes, I'm fine. Don't worry about me. I'll do whatever it takes to get my girls back. So will I. Trafficking was my new battlefield. It was up to me to bring Skye and Elle back home. And I would stop at nothing. Hurry up and finish. The judges meet tonight. Could you speed it up? When I come back you'd better be ready. Please answer, Mom, please, please. What have you been doing? Come on, let's go. Okay. Shh, shh. - Tyler, I need you to check us in. - Sure. All right? I'll be back. - Where's he going? - He's going to meet Aeton. That's Wil's friend who used to work for the Greek Special Forces. They met back in 2009, when Wil came over to do some training. Basically, Aeton's our ticket into everywhere we need to go. - Oh, that's a sign. - What? Wil's man, Aeton. You think it's a coincidence they met way back when? No, no. That's a sign. No way. That's a sign that my God has been planning this since '09. Yeah, he's gonna rescue the girls. Let's get checked in. - Taylor? Tyler? - Tyler. Tyler. Yeah, that's right. Come on, now. Where we going? - Right this way. - Okay. Maxie! Appreciate you coming out of retirement for me, brother. Only for you. Were you able to make any sense out of those faxes? I think so, but I can't believe your Uncle Jack left all that info on his laptop. Yeah, he's an idiot. All I knew about Greece before were beautiful islands and the kind-hearted people, but they, too, were dealing with the horrors of human trafficking. In a city with a population of over 600,000... we were attempting to find Skye. With the help of my special ops contact, Aeton, we would search the red-light district brothel by brothel. I had no idea what I was about to witness. How do you look someone in the eye that is being tortured every day and not want to storm in and rescue them. Before we dive into our search, there are two majors. - All right, go. - Number one. The brothels here are nothing like you would expect. They look more like residential apartments. You know them by the light bulbs at each door, and once you're in the brothel district, they are everywhere. Literally, hundreds in Athens alone. Wow. Yeah, prostitution is legal here, so, yeah. So we look quick. What's number two? In Greece, everything is done through relationship. Especially to get into things, like the auction, this Friday. It's all about who you know, not how much money you have. So you're gonna have to let me do the talking. All right. I'm with you. Great. Tomorrow is our big meeting to get access to the auction where Jack is trying to sell Elle. As far as finding Skye, the organization here has been a real help. We went through the faxes you sent and narrowed down some areas where she might be. But, after being here for months... Skye could be anywhere. So we look everywhere. We start at one corner and methodically work our way through. We weren't the only ones burdened to help these girls. Even some of the locals couldn't turn their backs once they discovered the ugly truth. What do you want with me? You speak English? You are American. Okay. My English is okay, but we can talk. I... I am not trying to hurt you, I promise. I want to help you. I want you to help you get out. Okay, okay, okay. You cry. I... I'll wait until you are ready to talk. Where is the key that will unlock this door? Dear Lord, you promised me that if I would look to you whole heartedly, you would listen... And deliver us from evil. Lord, please, deliver my children from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, Thine is the power. Thine is the glory. Where are the arms to hold you in this... Lord, we thank you for protection. We ask that you keep Skye and Elle safe. Bring them back to us. ...and thank you for the rescue team as they go out. Give them wisdom. Guide their every step. We thank you that the things that are impossible for man are possible for you and we rest in your hands, in your grace. In Jesus' name. Amen. There's a heart that's beating... As a mother I can't even begin to fathom what it would be like to have your child taken from you, and then to be left with the fear of all the unthinkable, horrific things that might be happening. But I know and am confident that God has not forgotten about a single victim. One of the guys handed me a drink, and I woke up tied to a bed. Hmm. I had been sold into sex slavery. I was beaten. Raped daily. Threatened. My family threatened, until I finally complied with their demands. My life was taken from me. We are the difference. We are the key to unlocking their chains and bringing their freedom. We simply cannot stand idly by while so many are trapped in sex slavery around the world, including in every state in America. Mankind rose up once and ended slavery. Now it's time for this generation to do the same. It's time to step up. Let these victims know that they are not alone. - Hi, guys. - Hey, you good? Yeah, yeah. I'm just taking a break for a couple hours - and head back out. - All right. - What do you need? - I need some food. - Do you mind? - No problem. You hear anything about Skye? Not yet, Miss Aggie. We'll keep looking. Well, you know the Lord is going before you, and he will make a way, Wil. Hope so. Keep praying. We're meeting with the leader of the auction today, find out whether or not we can bid for Elle and if we do, we'll get her. - All right? - Okay. - Here you go. - Thanks, Bro. All right, well, I'm gonna head up. Anything else we can do? Just keep watching Miss Agata, I appreciate it. You betcha. - Hey. - Hey. It's worse than what you thought, huh? There so many girls, man. And their so young. We'll get her. She speak English to me. She's American, and they lock her in brothel with bars on her windows. If this is true, so what? There's nothing you can do. You no say that if it was our sister in there. I get her out tonight. No, do not help that girl. Brothel owners are brutal. You'll get yourself killed. Galen. Galen! Brush your hair, put your shoes on. - We're gonna leave right now. - Why? Where are we going? Kain got us a meeting with the woman who's running the modeling contest. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, we're on our way. Meet me in the lobby, okay? Okay, guys, she's coming. Hey, Kain. Same routine as before? Yeah, yeah. Not sure she'll remember you, but this, you know, does not matter. She just wants to see girls. - Okay. - All right, yeah? Okay, follow me. - Hey. - What? - What did he mean by that? - Huh? - Have you been here before? - Oh, shh, just... just... just do what the lady says, okay? Everything's... everything's fine. Madame. It's okay. - Americans. - Oh. Hmm. This is good. - How old? - Fourteen. Very good. Come. For tomorrow, you come up, you stand. You go down, you go back. You stand... till I say go. Do you understand? - Yes, ma'am. - Very good. You go now. - Done. Let's go. - What? That's it. Oh, she wants us to go. She has a meeting. But she says Elle will do good. Uh, okay, well, that's all I wanted to hear. We go. - Exit this way. - Thank you. She says you look familiar, and is asking if you have ever met before. Skye and Elle are somewhere out there. Listen, Miss Aggie, I was talking to Wil before he went back out. I think we should prepare ourselves for the fact that we may not find Skye. No, no. He's gonna find her. I hope so. I'm just... you know on this visit, it... it might not happen. No, no. Now Tyler, he gonna find her. Just now you watch. Miss Aggie, listen... No. Child, I understand what you trying to tell me, but what you don't know is my God is on my side. Now it might sound foolish to you, but... my Lord didn't bring me this far to leave me now. I admire your faith, Miss Aggie. He's gonna find her. He's gonna do it. Just you watch. Just you watch. Where is she? Did you think I wouldn't see your little romance? I told you to try someone new! Who are these for? Were you going to try to sneak her out right under my nose? Foolish boy! - What did you do with her? - She's no more. Gone forever. And you, my boy, are going to wish you had never laid eyes on her. These are the streets we have checked the last two days. When we come back tonight, we need to focus first in this area. How many brothels do we have left? How many girls do you think we saw last night? A few hundred. There are 20,000 prostitutes in all of Greece. And over 90% are trafficked. Dear God. Stupid bum. Probably drunk. Wait. This guy's not a bum. Come on, leave him alone. We gotta go. He's banged up. See if you can get him to talk. Aeton. It's her. We were too late. Skye was gone and I had failed. How could her own father have done that to her? Sell her like an object. Take away her rights as a human and profit from it. I will never forget, and I will make sure Jack pays for what he's done. Wil, are you all right? What happened? What happened? I'm so sorry. Wil? - What...? - I didn't get there in time. Oh. Skye. My Skye. No! Oh, no! - Miss Aggie, wait. - No! No! - Wait. - No! - Wil. - Mom? What is it? What's going on? - Mom. - What? What is it? What happened? I lost Skye. I didn't get there in time. I did everything I could do. Look, son, we... we know that you did your best. How's Aggie? I just told her. Mom, she was so sure... God was gonna save her. It's like losing Madison all over again. Oh, babe, I'm so sorry. How's it looking for Elle? We go to auction tomorrow. We'll be praying for you. Look, Wil, do, uh... Do you want me to call in someone else to handle this? No. I got it. This time tomorrow Elle will be on her way back and safe. I promise. God... you gonna have to speak to your girl, Aggie. Where are you in this? Where are you in Macy's dying? Where are you? And Skye girl being taken. Where are you? Yous got to speak to me 'cause this ain't what you promised. This ain't what you promised me. Good Morning. How you doing this morning? Don't worry about me. How are you? Last night was awful. Hearing what you had to say about my Skye girl was... - Miss Aggie, I'm... - Listen to me, child. I thought I was gonna die inside. I sat up all night talking to God trying to work this whole thing out, but then the strangest thing happened. This morning... my heart was filled with the most precious peace. I can't explain it. And I can't deny that that peace is right here, even now. I don't know what it means, but I know our God is in control of this whole thing. Now please, you have got to try and believe me. You're a good boy. You're a strong young man. And none of this is your fault. You have done all that you can do, but we have got to put last night behind us, because my Elle is still out there, and we gotta go get her back today. Today is the day. Okay. We gotta zip. Ready? Let me... let me take a look at you. Turn... just turn. Okay, that's great. Do you remember what the woman told you to do once you get out there? Yeah? Okay. Let's go. This is the best escape route. We're gonna have the van waiting for you right there. Okay. Hold up. It's Aeton. Hey man, you found out anything else from the boy? All right. Just keep somebody with him. If he knows something I gotta know it, all right? I'll see you in 15. And you're sure you don't want me to go? I'm sure, man. You're job is to keep people safe inside that van. - All right? - All right. - Ready to go? - Yeah. Let's go. Keep your head down. We don't want Jack recognizing you. Copy that. One foot in front of the other. That's it. How come I'm not with the other girls? What's that? It's because you are special, Sweetheart. And they think you're gonna win. Yeah, yeah, sure. How much longer? I don't know. Time for start. You're number three. Hey, hey, hey. It's number three. That's my lucky number. It is. The woman starts the bidding, we need to make sure she sees our hands. And once seen, it's binding. This is feakin' surreal. It's like she's selling cars. Shh, shh, shh. It's starting. There will be 25 girls sold in two parts. The first three girls are prime. Elle will be in that group. The bids start at 100,000 euros. This is humanity at its worst. - Dad? - Huh? Um, don't worry. Some girls, just... you know, they can't handle the competition. That's all. - It's time. - Yeah? Now. All right, honey, all right, make me proud, okay? Ella. That's her. - Where are we? - Already at 150. - Now, we can go as high as 260? - Great. 'Cause we're gonna need it. It's now at 175. All right, get in there and take it to the end. Get her. We got her? Elle, come here. Honey, honey, look. You did it, you did it. You beat out all the other girls. That was the weirdest thing I've ever done. - Can we please go? - No, no, I... You have to take a picture with the judge first, okay? - Really? - Yeah, yeah. Come on. Are you coming with me to get her? - No, I'm gonna hang back. - Okay. - They got her. - They got her in hand? No, no, no. Hold on. They got her in the auction. They haven't made contact with her yet, but as soon as they do they're gonna pay for her and we're gonna get out of here. Thank you, Lord. It's gonna be okay. It won't take very long, okay? Just... Elle, uh... I, uh... I'll see you outside? - Okay? - Okay. Skye? Skye? Skye? Elle? Elle! Elle! Get out! I got Skye! Hey. What are you doing here? Who brought you here? What are you doing here? Listen to me, Elle. You can't trust anything Dad says. You can't trust a word he says. Just get out! Just run, Elle, run! Run, Elle! I gotcha. Now you're mine! Ugh! Elle, Elle. Hey, it's okay. It's all right. Listen, hey. I'm here to help you. There's Wil and Elle. There's Wil and Elle. - Oh! - Miss Aggie, wait. All right. I'm not gonna hurt you. - Elle! - Aggie! In the flesh, child. Come on. I got her, I got her, I got her. Come on, baby. Come on, get in. Get in! Oh, it's okay. Skye's in there. I'm going back. Skye girl? - She's in there, I saw her. - Oh, God. Aeton? - Hey. - What happened? He tried to jump me. Well, that was a mistake. - Where's Elle? - I got her out. Then let's get Skye. Ugh! Skye. Oh, my God. I can't... I can't believe I found you. I... You mom and I lost all hope. No, no. I... I know I know how this looks, but, look, I... I had no idea what kind of place this was. I had no idea. You have to believe me. Where's Elle? She's... she's outside. She... she's... she's with your mom. Your mom's here with... Come on, no, no, no. You! Hey, I'm telling you the truth! All right, there's Skye. - Come on, listen to me! - You left me here. You have to listen to me! - Uh. Ugh! - How you doing Uncle Jack? Wil? It's okay. We're here for you. It's okay, it's okay. I'm coming back for you. Ugh! Ugh! We'll make you safe. It's okay. It's okay. You're safe. Skye, hey, it's okay. We're here to help you. Elle and Miss Aggie are outside. We gotta get you out of here. Tyler, yeah, I got Skye. We're coming out the back way. There's guys everywhere. We're gonna cover her. When you got her you go. - All right, I Gotta go. - Go, go, go, go, go, go. - Backup is on the way! - Black SUV. Skye girl, come on! You know we're going back - to get those other girls, right? - Oh, yeah. Now, come on. Elle, get in the car! It's Jack. Cover me. Reports are now coming out of Athens, Greece pertaining to a human trafficking bust yesterday, where dozens of girls ranging from 12-18 years old were being auctioned and sold into sex slavery. The rescue effort was lead by a task force team that works closely with two anti-trafficking organization, in Greece and the U.S. Two American girls were among those being auctioned. CNM can now confirm that all 25 victims were rescued. Millions are still waiting to be rescued. Waiting for all of us to say "no more." But still you cry... Hi, my name is Alan Powell, and I played Wil in "Caged No More". What you have just seen is more than a movie. This is a movement to speak out against human trafficking, so use your influence and spread the word. #cagednomore. Hi, I'm Kathie Lee Gifford and I'm using my influence to stop human trafficking. This is just a movie and it's a story and it's fictional, but the truth is is that this is really happening in the real world. And if people think this is happening in other countries, it is, but it's also happening right here at home. It could be in your community, it could be your neighbor. It could be somebody in your family. And that's why it's so important that people go out and see this movie and learn more about it. Now is the time to say "no more" to human trafficking. Global slavery is at the highest level in history, but if we all come together and do something about it we can end it. This movie is about the one child, the one person trapped in human trafficking somewhere in the world. Human trafficking is a very, very emotional issue. It's really a whole lot to take in, so we want to leave you with three practical steps. Number one, it happens in your city, your state, and in your community. Number two, it could happen to your child, Your granddaughter, your niece, your friend. We need to be talking to our children and asking them who are they chatting with on social media. We need to tell our girls that are around us that we care about them and that they're valuable. And we need to tell our boys that girls are not an object to be bought and sold. And most important, do something about it. Say no more to slavery by getting involved and making a difference. There are many ways that you can become a freedom fighter. Go to cagednomoremovie.com and connect with local organizations in your area that are making a difference. Hi, I'm Lisa Arnold, Director and Producer of "Caged No More." We want you to join us in this fight to end human trafficking. Together we can make a difference. #cagednomore. Stand up, tweet, text, do whatever you can to get the word out. We can educate our kids, we can make a difference. We can save lives together. Thank you. #cagednomore. #cagednomore. #cagednomore. #cagednomore. Now I'm just a sketch that's incomplete I don't know where I'm supposed to be The only sane part of my mind I will try to keep Right now I am praying to God Lend me some peace I used to dream in color Of people that I meet I used to love to fall asleep Now it's black and white I've lost my fight And there's a crack in the windshield The one before I break Choosing to trust you is a chance I can't take Oh, I'm crying Can't sleep, Oh, I'm dragging And I can't... Breathe. Where's the key that will unlock this door? Where is the place where pain will be no more? Where is the hand to mend back what's been torn? Where are the arms to hold you in this storm? And to wonder how long till it will happen Oh, but miracles come when you're not expecting When you're not expecting There's a heart that's beating A soul that's needing A light that's breaking through the dark To heal the heart To heal the heart When tears fall like and endless night When your fear is too much for you to fight When you can't even find a trace of hope to hold onto Oh, hope is holding onto you Even though it seems impossible That's the amazing thing about a miracle Oh, a miracle There's a heart that's beating A soul that's needing A light that's breaking through the dark There's a hand that's healing And a hope that's reaching And a love that's shining like a star To heal a heart To heal a heart Love can mend a wound you never thought would heal Ooh, let Him, He can give you peace You never thought you'd feel Oh, oh oh oh, love can give you joy And heal the heart Oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah Heal the heart There's a heart that's beating A soul that's needing A light that's breaking through the dawn A head that's healing And a hope that's reaching A love that's shining like a star To heal the heart To heal the heart You can heal the heart. |
